The SonVida wines were born from a dream; a dream of a couple who fell in love with the landscape of Altamira in 1999, when they visited on holiday. They named the vineyard after their daughter, Joy, who was a baby when they bought 25 hectares. They started planting vines in 2002, firstly with Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. They are the main vines. Then over the years, rows of Syrah (2006), Chardonnay (2010) and Cabernet Franc (2014) were added. Currently, there are 21 hectares planted surrounding the house.

The SonVida wines launched with a 2007 vintage Malbec, followed by the first Cabernet Sauvignon in 2008. The winemaker is Alejandro Vigil, who creates elegant wines with the aim of being faithful to Paraje Altamira. The SonVida wines are created exclusively from grapes of the ‘Joy’ vineyard. Decanter awards have distinguished SonVida Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, in addition to their recognitions in Argentina. The SonVida Malbec 2012 was chosen as the 4th best wine in the world in the Top 100 Wines by Wine Enthusiast magazine.
